When it comes to fantasy football, form is everything and keeping a keen eye out on some of the best point-baggers throughout the season is essential.

It's important to spot the potential bargain buys, dark horses and consistent point scorers as the season takes shape.

Sportsmail runs the rule over week three's high scorers and assesses the team of the week.

Goalkeeper: Fraser Forster (Southampton), 10 points

Cost: 6.4 

Fraser Forster earned his clean sheet at Huddersfield. Six saves ensured his goal was not breached and managers selecting him got a double-figure points haul.

Defender: Ciaran Clark, 14 points

Cost: 5.6

Whenever a defender gets a goal it's always a huge boost in his fantasy points. If they get a clean sheet too then you are in business. Well done Ciaran Clark, you successfully ticked both boxes and are this week's top scorer.

Cost: 5.9

The next best thing to a defender who scores and keeps a clean sheet is one who gets an assist and a clean sheet. When they come in value for money players like Kyle Naughton all the better.

Defender: Cesar Azpilicueta, 10 points

Cost: 6.5 

Cesar Azpilicueta does not come cheaply for fantasy players but you get what you pay for. An assist for Alvaro Morata's goal and a clean sheet for the Chelsea defender saw him pick up double-figure points.

With Nathaniel Clyne out injured there is value to be found if you can guess which young right-back Jurgen Klopp picks for Liverpool. Those of you who went for Joe Gomez were rewarded for that bold decision with a clean sheet and an assist.   

Midfielder: Mohamed Salah, 11 points

Cost: 7.5

Mo Salah is fast becoming a fantasy football favourite. His ability to score and create means he offers big upside. A goal and an assist give the Egyptian his second 11-point haul in three games.

Midfielder: Cesc Fabregas, 8 points

Cost: 7

Known more for his assists than his goals, fantasy managers selecting Cesc Fabregas were rewarded as the Spaniard opened the scoring against Everton.

Midfielder: Sadio Mane, 8 points

Cost: 7.7

Sadio Mane has rapidly become a crucial member of Jurgen Klopp's side. His raw speed and ability to create something out of nothing offers the Reds a valuable resource when the opposition sit deep. 

Mane scored the decisive goal for his side to set up the win over Arsenal at Anfield.

Midfielder: Dele Alli, 8 points

Cost: 7.9

Fantasy managers not selecting Dele Alli are almost conceding points at this stage. He got his second goal of the season in the draw with Burnley, for his second eight-point haul in three games.

Forward: Roberto Firmino, 10 points

Cost: 8.1

Roberto Firmino is the top-scoring forward in fantasy football ahead of the international break. A goal and an assist against Arsenal gave him 10 points for the second time this season.

Forward: Alvaro Morata, 10 points

Cost: 8.1 

Morata might not yet have convinced Antonio Conte that he is the man to replace Diego Costa but he has scored well in fantasy football. 

A goal and an assist against Everton mean he is just behind Firmino in the striker stakes on 21 points so far this season.
