Everton have made an £8million offer for Nikola Vlasic at Hajduk Split but will face a rush to get his work permit application in place by 4pm on Thursday.

That is the deadline for clubs in the UK ahead of the window closing on Thursday evening.

The 19-year-old impressed during Everton's two-legged Europa League qualifier against the Croatian club but became a target for Ronald Koeman earlier this summer.

Vlasic has become a first-team star for Hajduk since making his debut as a 17-year-old and has scored 10 times in 85 appearances.

Koeman has been keen to add to his squad following a busy summer transfer window with options in attack a priority ahead of the deadline.

However, should Everton seal a deal for Vlasic, he is likely to be sent straight out on loan to gain first-team experience on the continent.

Split president Ivan Kos has previously indicated the club could sell their star teenager.

'The transfer window runs until August 31, sometimes transfers happen a minute before midnight. We don't want to lose one per cent of our quality,' Kos told Split newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija.

'We also have to think about financial stability.

'I don't like to talk about things I cannot say with certainty. We'll keep track of how things are going.'
