Manchester United have rejected a number of loan proposals for striker James Wilson.

The 21-year-old was on loan at Derby County last season and suffered a cruciate ligament injury. However, he has been back training and United want to keep an eye on his recovery until January.

Wilson was a surprise starter for United's Under 23s against Tottenham last week, playing his first minutes since the injury picked up last October.

The 21-year-old striker played 77 minutes on his return to the fold as the United XI lost 3-0.

The striker, who scored twice on his first-team debut, has had little luck since.

A loan to Brighton in 2015-16 was marred by illness and Wilson did not score as many as he would have liked at that level.

United have already seen youngster Matty Willock go out on loan on Thursday. He's joined Utrecht for the season.

'Matty is a multi-functional midfielder who played for Manchester United over the past few years and enjoyed a part of his football training at Arsenal,' said head coach Erik ten Hag.

'In Manchester, he has not managed to make the move to the first team so far, but we are convinced that he can be of value in Utrecht.'
