Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Watford all scrambling for £9m-rated Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic

  • Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic is in demand as the transfer window closes
  • Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Watford all interested in the defender
  • The Scottish side value Croation defender Simunovic at £9million

Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Watford have all made further enquiries for Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic as they scramble for a centre-back on deadline day.

The 23-year-old has also been the subject of interest from Burnley and Huddersfield in recent weeks with Celtic valuing him at £9million.

Leicester have had bids for Callum Chambers, Jonny Evans and Mamadou Sakho rejected this week while Palace have also seen bids for Sakho rebuffed and are waiting on Manchester City's Eliaquim Mangala.

Palace and Liverpool are not though to be too far apart in their valuation of Sakho, who is open to a return to Selhurst Park after last season's loan, with the club looking for answers at the back due to their poor start under Frank de Boer.

Simunovic, 23, has impressed since joining Celtic in 2015, playing his part in two Scottish title wins and their unbeaten domestic campaign last season.

He arrived at Celtic Park as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk, who left Scotland for Southampton in 2015 and has been a transfer target of a number of leading clubs during the summer.

Saints, however, insist they are '99.9 per cent' certain of keeping hold of the Dutchman once the window closes.
