Liverpool new boy Andy Robertson declares himself 'on top of the world' after becoming a father as he joins up with Scotland for World Cup qualifiers

  • Andy Robertson moved from Hull City to Liverpool for £8million this summer
  • The full back is now with the Scottish national squad ahead of World Cup games
  • He says he is 'relishing' both his professional and private lives at the moment

Andy Robertson feels on 'top of the world' at the moment but would love to go to Russia with Scotland.

The 23-year-old left-back completed a glamour move from Hull to Liverpool for a reported fee of £8million in July, then became a father to son Rocco last week.

The former Queen's Park and Dundee United defender is in Vilnius for the Scots' crunch World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Friday night where victory is required to keep hopes of making the finals next summer alive.

While admitting he was in a good place personally at the moment, Robertson is looking for even more good times with the national team.

He said: 'There comes a time in life when things have to change, think about having kids and me and my partner did that and obviously with that came a move to a massive club.

'I am on top of the world just now. I am relishing it and loving where I am at with the club and where I am with my family.

'Everyone wants to get the country back to big finals and that will be our my aim.

'We have four games left and the players, managers and staff will be working towards that and if we can do that it will give the country a big lift.

'We are looking to get maximum points and if we do that we will see where we stand.

'If it is not enough we will look at it then but we are trying to qualify.'
