Manchester City new boy Benjamin Mendy makes light of cryotherapy session with Cool Runnings joke

  • Manchester City's Benjamin Mendy has been having cryotherapy treatment
  • The full-back shared a picture of himself undergoing the sub zero treatment
  • Mendy compared the snap to a famous scene in classic film Cool Runnings

It may have come out before he was born but Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy is clearly a fan of comedy classic Cool Runnings.

The 1994 film tells the story of the Jamaican bobsleigh team at the 1988 Winter Olympics and features a famous scene when one of the characters, Sanka Coffie, is put in a freezer to help him adapt to the cold weather.

The City player poked some fun at himself by posting a picture where he is in a cryotherapy chamber, comparing it to the freezer scene in the film.

The Frenchman captioned the picture on his Twitter feed: 'Mendy you dead ?!! yeh man' - a reference to Cofie's well known line in the film - then followed that with: '#coolrunnings'.

Mendy and his City team-mates return to league action after the international break with a big clash against Liverpool at the Etihad.

The 23-year-old was left out of the France squad for their recent qualifiers after an injury-hit start to the season but should be fit enough to play on Saturday.
