As a result of his continued absence from Stamford Bridge, the Spanish international was left out of Chelsea's Champions League squad.
The decision to exclude him from the club's European squad comes just days after the striker was remarkably listed in Chelsea’s Premier League squad.
The 28-year-old Spaniard has not featured for Chelsea since their 2-1 FA Cup final defeat against Arsenal back at the end of May.
