Sunderland name starting lineup with more Everton appearances than entire Toffees eleven in Carabao Cup clash

Sunderland's starting eleven at Goodison Park on Wednesday night had made more appearances for Everton than the entire Everton side.
Though the Black Cats boasted only three former Toffees, the trio's combined haul of games for the opposition came to 238, while the inexperienced side Ronald Koeman named had mustered only 233.
Jack Rodwell, Darron Gibson and James Vaughan all left their former home disappointed on the night, though, as Everton ran out 3-0 winners.

The extraordinary statistic came to light on Twitter, thanks to Steve Johnson, author of 'Everton The Official Complete Record'.
For the home side Muhamed Besic was their leading appearance-holder, having played only 53 games in three years at the club.
Ashley Williams trailed him with 48, while young midfielder Tom Davies has already played 36 times.
Behind them were Mason Holgate on 24, goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg on 22 and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, a two-goal hero on the night, on 21.

While the majority of the home side had their Everton careers lieing ahead of them, the same could not be said for Sunderland.
Midfielder Jack Rodwell came through the club's academy, making the first of his 109 appearances in December 2007. He left the club for Manchester City in 2012 for £12million.
Striker James Vaughan became the club's youngest scorere when he found the net against Crystal Palace in April 2005. But after only 60 first-team appearances he joined Norwich in 2011.
Darron Gibson moved to Everton from Manchester United in 2012, yet appeared only 69 times for the Toffees.
