Harry Kane admits Tottenham breathed a sigh of relief after holding off West Ham's fightback to claim a 3-2 win at the London Stadium.

Kane's first-half double sent Spurs on their way and Christian Eriksen looked to have wrapped up the points on the hour mark before the Hammers hit back.

Javier Hernandez headed home after 65 minutes and Spurs right back Serge Aurier was then sent off for a second bookable offence shortly after to make it a nervy finish.

Cheikhou Kouyate reduced West Ham's deficit further with three minutes remaining but Tottenham held on to extend their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions.

Kane told Sky Sports: 'Yeah (it was a relief), obviously when you're 3-0 up in a game and you end up going to 3-2 it's always a bit nerve-racking, especially when you're down to 10 men.

'It is a fantastic result away from home, obviously going 3-0 up we would have liked to have seen it out a bit better, but a win is a win and we're delighted with it.'

Kane took his tally in the Premier League this season to four and he now has 21 goals in London derbies.

The England striker added: 'Obviously I see stuff going round on social media but I don't really think about stuff like that too much, I want to score against every team I play against.

'For some reason London derbies seem to suit me but it's fantastic. I'm delighted to get a couple of goals and help the team.'

Spurs have won their opening three away league games - the others coming against Newcastle and Everton - and Kane is hoping it continues at Huddersfield next Saturday.

Kane said: 'We know we just have to improve our home form and we should be right up there.

'We've had a couple of really tough games away so to come away with nine points from the three games is very good.

'We've just got to continue it. We've got another away game next week which will be tough and we're looking forward to it.'

Tottenham have dropped points in their home games at Wembley against Chelsea, Burnley and Swansea this season but their latest away win impressed boss Mauricio Pochettino.

'It was so difficult,' he said. 'West Ham played well, they have a lot of players that can cause you a problem.

'We suffered a little bit, but I like it when you suffer, because it means you are alive. Overall I think we deserved to win and the good thing is we can compete.'

The result brings an end to West Ham's mini-revival and leaves them on four points after six games.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic said: 'Obviously we are disappointed but we didn't give up.'
