Benjamin Mendy targets 'two or three titles' at Manchester City and predicts World Cup 2018 triumph with France

Benjamin Mendy believes he has joined one of the most exciting football projects in Europe at Manchester City and is targeting at least two or three titles during his time at the club.

The 23-year-old agreed a £50million move from Monaco during the summer and has helped Pep Guardiola's side become early pacesetters in the race for the Premier League title.

Guardiola is under pressure to deliver after two summers of heavy spending, but Mendy believes the Spanish manager will eventually bring in major titles and is expecting to earn multiple medals at the Etihad.

'[The objective is to] win two or three titles with Manchester City,' he told Telefoot. 'We have one of the best projects in Europe and we want to continue writing the history of this club.'

Following a meteoric rise, Mendy is almost guaranteed a place in the France squad if and when they travel to the World Cup in Russia next summer. But Les Bleus may have to win their final two qualifiers to guarantee their place in the tournament.

Sweden sit just one point behind in their qualifying group and France face a tough tie away to Bulgaria next month before a final home game against Belarus.

Not only does Mendy believe his national team will qualify, he expects them to go on to repeat the heroic feats of the 1998 squad and lift the trophy in Moscow next July.

He added: 'We're going to qualify. We can win the World Cup. We have good young players, experienced players. I believe it.'
