Everton stars Morgan Schneiderlin and Kevin Mirallas in attendance as Idrissa Gueye celebrates 28th birthday

Everton star Idrissa Gueye invited a select few of his team-mates over to celebrate his 28th birthday this week, with former Manchester United star Morgan Schneiderlin among those on the guest list.

The tough-tackling midfielder has become a key cog in Ronald Koeman's side since joining from Aston Villa in 2016 and rung in the start of his prime years alongside Kevin Mirallas, Oumar Niasse and David Henen.

Along with their wives and girlfriends, the five team-mates posed for a picture, which was then posted to Schneiderlin's official Instagram account with the caption: 'Happy birthday frero @iganagueye.'

The Toffees stars were enjoying some downtime following their hard-fought 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday, with Niasse responsible for completing the comeback thanks to his two late goals.

Gueye's party is likely to have been a civilised affair, however, with Everton back in action at Goodison Park for their Europa League clash with Cypriot side Apollon Limassol on Thursday.

Having been comprehensively beaten by Atalanta in their opening group game two weeks ago, Koeman's side will need three points to get their European campaign back on track.

Meanwhile, Gueye could be in line for a bumper birthday present from the club as they prepare to offer him a significant pay rise.

The Senegal international, who has 45 caps, has drawn interest from some of Europe's top clubs in recent months, but Everton are keen to end speculation by offering him a new long-term contract and are willing to bring him in line with their top earners to do so.
