Diego Costa has finally donned the club colours of Atletico Madrid once more, following his high profile move from Chelsea.

The Spain international has now resumed training with his new club, and took part in a session in the aftermath of their last gasp Champions League group stage defeat to his former employers.

Atletico took to social media to proudly show off pictures of Costa wearing the famous red once more, with anticipation already reaching fever pitch regarding his official return to football action.

Costa will have to wait until January for that however, with Atletico unable to field any new recruits until their overhanging transfer ban has elapsed.

Captioning the images, the club wrote: 'Diego Costa trained with the coaching staff. It's his second training session in the Wanda Training Complex.'

Excitement has been in the air ever since Costa's return, with fans flocking to the club shop in their masses to get the name of the striker printed across their shirts.

Outside the club's new Wanda Metropolitano fans also gathered around Costa's plaque - a nice touch by the club paying tribute to a host of their former players.

Once supporters heard of Costa's return, the popularity of the Brazil-born Spain international's small square of silver went through the roof.

Costa could only watch on on Wednesday night however as his new club took on his former club in the Champions League group stages.

Antoine Griezmann put the home side ahead from the penalty spot, only for Costa's replacement Alvaro Morata to equalise.

The contest looked destined to end in a stalemate, only for Belgium international Michy Batshuayi to come off the bench and steal a last minute winner for the Blues.
