Marcus Rashford claims he can hit free-kicks like Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo: 'I can do it like he does it but I haven't done it yet'

Manchester United fans are in for a treat if Marcus Rashford can live up to claims he can hit a free-kick like former Old Trafford favourite Cristiano Ronaldo.

The teenage striker has scored five goals for the Red Devils already this season and has taken on some free-kick responsibility, but his only goal from a dead ball situation to date came in last season's Europa League semi-final clash with Celta Vigo.

On that occasion Rashford whipped the ball past the wall but he claims he can mimic the technique of Ronaldo, who addresses the ball straight on before striking through the ball and deceiving the goalkeeper with its flight and swerve.

Rashford's only free-kick goal for United came at Celta Vigo in last season's Europa League

But he says he is capable of striking the ball like former United man Cristiano Ronaldo

But the striker has yet to show United fans his ability. 

'No, it's actually a different technique,' said Rashford, when discussing his goal against Celta.

'I can do it like he does it but I haven't done it yet.'

Rashford is vying for a starting berth with Anthony Martial at Old Trafford, with the Englishman of the belief the battle will benefit both him personally and United as a whole. 

'Without it, you don't improve,' Rashford said. 'Young players need that sort of environment around them.

'I think we're both enjoying our football at the moment, we're both having our say in the games, and it's good for us, good for the manager, good for the team.' 

Rashford is currently with the England squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers
