Liverpool to unveil Kenny Dalglish Stand with ceremony ahead of Premier League showdown with Man United

Liverpool will officially unveil the Kenny Dalglish Stand when they play old rivals Manchester United at Anfield on October 14.

The club announced earlier this year that the Centenary Stand will be renamed in honour of one of their greatest-ever players and managers.

Work on branding the stand is well underway, with Dalglish's name spelled out in illuminated letters across the top and new signs on the exterior.

Dalglish will also be honoured with a Kop mosaic ahead of the Man United game on October 14

To celebrate the occasion, fans on the Kop will lift coloured cards ahead of kick-off to form a mosaic while the matchday programme will also be dedicated to him.


Striker Dalglish, known as 'King Kenny' to Liverpool fans, joined the club from Celtic in 1977 and went on to represent them for 13 years, scoring 169 goals in 502 matches.

He was then appointed player-manager in 1985 and continued in the role until 1991, before later returning in 2011-12.

His first spell at Anfield was one of the most successful periods in the club's history and he won six First Division titles, the FA Cup, four League Cups and the European Cup in 1978, 1981 and 1984.

As manager, he added three more league titles, two FA cups and another League Cup.
