Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says their flying start means absolutely nothing in the Premier League... but in any other league it would almost mean the title
- Manchester United sit second in the Premier League only on goal difference
- United trail bitter rivals Manchester City by just one goal after a fantastic start
- The Red Devils have collected 19 points from their opening seven fixtures
Jose Mourinho has downplayed Manchester United's flying start to the season, stressing that the difficulty of the Premier League means they can't take anything for granted.
The Red Devils sit joint-top of the table with 19 points, alongside their bitter rivals Manchester City, from their seven matches so far - but with the latter ahead by one on goal difference.
United's run has included four 4-0 triumphs, building up anticipation of their first title challenge since they were last crowned champions during the 2012-13 season.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has refused to get carried away by their great start
Manchester City lead the Premier League table with 19 points from their opening seven games
However, United sit second - only behind City on the slimmest goal difference
Last season, expectations were of a similar nature after the Old Trafford outfit won their opening three games. However, this was followed by a 2-1 home defeat by City in a campaign that saw them eventually finish sixth.
And speaking about this current term, Mourinho has been quick to remind others that there are still 31 games to go.
'Nothing has happened yet,' he said about their strong start. 'Last year it started harder and it turned out really well.
'This year it has started really well, but we do not know how it's going to end.
'In another championship, this would mean almost the title, but in England it means nothing.'
United's credentials will certainly be tested in their next game after the international break - when they travel to Liverpool on October 14.
United beat Crystal Palace 4-0 at home on September 30 - their sixth win out of seven games
Yet, Mourinho knows his side face sterner tests in the upcoming weeks of the season
