Robin van Persie could make a return to Feyenoord, where he started his footballing career, in the coming days.
The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker is currently at Turkish club Fenerbahce, but his place in the team is at risk to Macedonian prodigy Eljif Elmas.
His contract expires at the end of the season, but van Persie would reportedly rather negotiate an early release than sit on the bench.

According to Turkish newspaper Aksam, Van Persie has his eyes on a return to Feyenoord, his first professional club.
It reports the 34-year-old 'already has an agreement' with the Dutch club, and Fenerbahce will 'leave him out of the squad' if no deal can be reached.
Van Persie came through the youth ranks at the Eredivisie side between 1996 and 2004, before joining Arsenal in a £4million move.

Van Persie proved a deadly striker in the Premier League for United and for the Gunners
It proved a bargain for the Gunners, as he scored 131 goals in 276 games and won the FA Cup in 2005 before jumping ship to Manchester United for £27m in 2012.
At Old Trafford, he was key to Sir Alex Ferguson's final United team which won the 2013 Premier League title.
He then left United in July 2015 after falling out of favour under Louis van Gaal, and moved to the Turkish Super Lig.
Recently the veteran forward earned a surprise recall to the Holland side in an attempt by coach Dick Advocaat to boost their flagging 2018 World Cup qualification hopes.
