Oldham confirmed earlier this week that players and staff had yet to be paid for September while talks are ongoing with prospective new investors.

Stewart came through the youth system at Old Trafford but failed to make a first team appearance and joined Hull in 2011 following a loan spell.

He was shipped out on loan four times from Hull before joining Ipswich where he managed just two senior appearances before his release.
