Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has stepped up his bid to face Chelsea this weekend by taking part in the club's training session on Tuesday.

Zaha — widely recognised as the Eagles' main man — has been sidelined since the opening day of the season after picking up an injury against Huddersfield.

But he has stepped up his recovery in recent weeks and has handed Roy Hodgson's struggling side a huge boost ahead of the crucial clash with the Blues.

Also taking part in the session at the club's Beckenham training base was captain Jason Puncheon, Pape Souare and James McArthur.

Zaha and Co were putting in important preparations for the must-win clash against the defending champions, having endured a miserable start to the top-flight term.

The Selhurst club have failed to secure a single point — or even score a single goal — in their opening seven league fixtures, losing each match significantly.

Hodgson's first three league matches have resulted in a 1-0 home defeat at home to Southampton, before 5-0 and 4-0 losses on the road at Manchester City and United respectively.

Zaha missed all of those though, but is now about to return for a vital period in the south London club's season.
