Chelsea scouts will check on Ghana international striker Richmond Boakye during next week's Europa League tie between Red Star Belgrade and Arsenal.

The 24-year-old Boakye has scored three league goals this season and a spectacular winner for the Serbian side in their 1-0 win over Cologne in the Europa League last month.

Boakye is known to Antonio Conte after he had a brief spell at Juventus but failed to convince coaching staff he was worthy of a starting place.

After a series of loans he has found his scoring touch with Red Star, and that has alerted clubs looking to bolster attacking options in January.

Celtic have also run the rule over Boakye while Swansea City and Crystal Palace are monitoring his progress.

Boakye has generally not shown the quality to be an automatic Premier League starter but may offer back-up cover from the bench.

West Bromwich Albion are among the clubs who will check on Red Star Belgrade striker
