'He did his first session after what happened and did it quite well,' Pep Guardiola said.

'Hopefully he'll be back. Maybe. We are going to see. He's not 100 per cent but has recovered quite well.

'If we think what could've happened... we're happy he's back training.'

Guardiola also confirmed that Benjamin Mendy will moss the next six months with cruciate knee ligament damage.

And he would not be drawn on suggestions City could launch another bid to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January.

'The transfer window is closed now. We will see. We're in October,' the Catalan added.

'The big problem we have is Mendy, six months out. We are going to suffer this situation. He is so important for us. Six months is a long time.'
