Liverpool and Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw in Saturday's early kick-off, with David de Gea proving the hero for the visitors.

The Spaniard made a fine first-half save to deny Joel Matip, while Simon Mignolet kept out an effort from Romelu Lukaku at the other end to ensure the clash ended in a stalemate.

Simon Mignolet – His only involvement in the game was decisive, when he made a fine stop to thwart Lukaku – 6.5

Joe Gomez – After his man-of-the-match display against Arsenal in August, another stellar performance in a big game – 7

Alberto Moreno – Has a habit of allowing attackers to sneak in behind him but, in the main, did all that was asked to do – 7

Jordan Henderson – Did his best to drive Liverpool forward; solid and disciplined, played with maturity just lacked a killer pass – 7.5

Emre Can – A glorious chance to settle things came his way but he ballooned his volley over the bar; another who was solid – 6.5

Mohamed Salah – He stands out because he wants to dribble and cause problems. Worked himself to a standstill – 7

Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has an attempt at goal during the first half

Gini Wijnaldum – An underrated midfielder, his passing and knowledge of where to be ensured Liverpool were never exposed – 7

Philippe Coutinho – Looked at times as if he was ready to explode into life but it never quite happened for him; big shout for a penalty – 6.5

Roberto Firmino – Klopp loves his work rate and how he leads the line but does he have the killer instinct in front of goal? He didn't here – 6

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Anonymous for much of the time he spent on the pitch, made no impact whatsoever. Very disappointing – 5
