Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare says there will be no room for sentiment when they take on West Brom

Craig Shakespeare insists there will be no room for sentiment as he attempts to lift Leicester's home hoodoo against his former club West Brom on Monday night.

Shakespeare has faced a tough start to his first full season as Leicester boss, having already played Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool in the first seven matches of the Premier League campaign.

Next up for the Foxes is West Brom, a club where Shakespeare made more than 100 appearances as a player and spent almost a decade as a coach, even taking charge of one game as caretaker manager.

It looks an easier assignment than some of the fixtures Leicester have already faced but the Foxes have not beaten their midlands rivals at home for 23 years.

'I had a great time at West Brom, met some really nice people, kept in contact with them as well,' said Shakespeare.

'(West Brom assistant head coach) Gary Megson was manager here for a time and gave me my opportunity in footballing coaching and I was always grateful to him for doing that. I haven't seen him for a while so it will be great to meet him again. And of course I know Tony (Pulis).

'It's a club I grew up near so I watched the Jeff Astle days, the Bobby Hope days. There's some great heritage there. But I will still be trying to get three points on Monday, that's for sure.'

January 1994 at Filbert Street was the last time Leicester won at home against West Brom. Iwan Roberts scored twice for the Foxes along with a Mike Whitlow strike and a Paul Mardon own goal. Micky Mellon and Gary Strodder replied for the Baggies.

'I didn't realise it was that long ago until I was just told, so thanks for that!' Shakespeare said. 'Maybe I won't tell the lads.

'Sometimes you have these little quirks against teams. Centre forwards have these quirks where they always score against a certain team. Who knows what it's about.'

Jamie Vardy and Wilfred Ndidi will be fit. Vardy was left out of the England squad due to an ongoing hip problem but the striker has recovered during the international break, while a suspected hamstring injury sustained by Ndidi while playing for Nigeria turned out to be just cramp.

Defender Ben Chilwell (knee) was withdrawn from the England Under-21 squad as a precaution but he is also fit. Robert Huth (ankle) and Matty James (Achilles) remain unavailable.
