Liverpool star Emre Can feels his side are on the verge of being back to their best: 'nothing is over yet and we have to believe in ourselves'

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can feels his side are on the verge of hitting their stride once again and getting back to their free-flowing best.

The Reds were held to a 0-0 stalemate on Saturday by bitter rivals Manchester United, despite having the lion's share of possession and chances.

Can came closest to breaking the deadlock in the tie after being picked out with a deft through-ball in the United area, but was unable to direct his volley under the crossbar.

Speaking after the final whistle Can remained upbeat about the performance and took heart from the signs that Liverpool are getting back to their best.

'It's the same story like before the international break but we have to go again on Tuesday because I think it's just a small, small step and then we will come in the right direction again,' Can told SFR Sport.

'It's too early [to make judgements], nothing is over yet and we have to believe in ourselves. We have to win the next game,' Can added.

Liverpool outclassed their opponents despite the absence of star man Sadio Mane, and will now head into a Champions League week with confidence.
