Ronald Koeman admitted Everton were lucky that Brighton did not score a second goal to clinch victory.
Instead, Wayne Rooney's 90th-minute penalty earned Everton a point.
The relieved Dutchman, who has spent more than £100million in the past two transfer windows, also criticised Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Morgan Schneiderlin for allowing Anthony Knockaert to give Brighton the lead.

They needed a last minute Wayne Rooney penalty to rescue a point after going a goal behind
He said: 'We had a poor defensive moment, first by Dominic — stay on your feet, don't go down — and the same for Morgan. After that we were lucky they didn't score the second.
'But we took the risk to play three at the back. We knew they would get more space, but we showed belief until the last second to get the result.'

Chris Hughton admitted he felt a little bit aggrieved by his side not being awarded a penalty
Brighton manager Chris Hughton claimed his side should have been awarded a penalty in the first half when Michael Keane blocked Lewis Dunk's effort.
He said: 'It was a goal-bound shot. It hit his thigh and went up on his arm. There are some referees who would have given it.'
