Leicester vs West Brom: Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare believes his side could be doing better while Tony Pulis backs Salomon Rondon to score

  • Leicester City and West Brom meet at the King Power Stadium on Monday night
  • Craig Shakespeare's Leicester need a win to escape the relegation zone
  • West Brom could be in the top half of the league by the end of Monday night

Leicester City host West Brom on Monday night, with both sides aiming to pick up points.

Leicester have started the 2017-18 campaign sluggishly and are in the relegation zone while West Brom are looking to push into the top half of the table.

Here, Craig Shakespeare and Tony Pulis preview the action to come from the King Power Stadium.

Craig Shakespeare in his own words

How do you reflect on your start to the season?

School report would say 'could do better'.

I don't hide behind that. We have had some decent performances where we have not got the results we merited but there have been some where we have been fortunate to come away with a point. That's football.

What's the plan for Jamie Vardy now?

He is fully fit to train daily. He has looked really sharp and if he was a horse you would just want to rein him back a bit.

He has had the injections after the Bournemouth game.

He was given a bit of time away because he wasn't allowed to do anything but he has trained fully this week.

It's 23 years since Leicester beat West Brom at home...

Thanks for that. The record against West Brom generally is not too bad. Maybe I won't tell the lads home and away — just mention general.

You played more than 100 games for West Brom...

I had a great time there. It's a club I grew up near so I watched the Jeff Astle days, the Bobby Hope days. I will still be trying to get three points.

Tony Pulis in his own words

What about Leicester's bid for Jonny Evans?

There was a bid and it was left to the club. Would Jonny have gone to Leicester? I don't know, you'd have to speak to Jonny.

He has two years left on his deal and I don't think anything's going to happen for a while. I haven't got a problem with Jonny.

How is Rondon after finally scoring in the league?

He played 180 minutes for Venezuela so we gave him a couple of days' grace to see his family. Salomon needed that goal, he got it against Watford, and he's done well against Leicester.

What do you put your side's poor form down to?

We haven't had the breaks. There's such a thin line between success and failure in the Premier League. It's the greatest league in the world because it's the toughest but it doesn't mean we haven't been doing good things on the pitch.

Do you prefer four or five at the back?

The basis of everything is what suits the players available. We can be flexible. It's waiting for Oliver Burke and Nacer Chadli to come back and try to fit them in.

LEICESTER FAN'S PREVIEW

Warwick Kay, (lcfcworld.co.uk)

Three points really are a must to kickstart the season but it will not be an easy task against a side who have taken quite a few points from us in the past few years at the King Power.

At least Jamie Vardy is fit again and Wilfred Ndidi is fine after rumours of an injury on International duty.

WEST BROM FAN'S PREVIEW

Increased pressure on Tony Pulis from the fans has made this feel like a must-win game.

With just one win in seven league games, Leicester are there for the taking. If we can keep Jamie Vardy quiet and make the most of our set pieces, we can get another smash-and-grab win to get our season back on track.
