Manchester City on course to score a staggering 138 goals in the Premier League this season... and their tally of 29 in just eight games is equal to their entire goals total in 2006-07!
- Manchester City have scored 29 goals in their first eight Premier League games
- Pep Guardiola's team are on course to score 138 goals at the present rate
- This would obliterate the current Premier League season goal tally record
- City have already scored as many goals as in the whole 2006-07 campaign
Manchester City have started the season in breath-taking fashion and are scoring goals for fun as they top the Premier League.
Saturday's 7-2 thrashing of Stoke City boosted their goal return to 29 in just eight matches and helped Pep Guardiola's team edge two points ahead of rivals Manchester United.
City have smashed six goals past Watford and five past both Liverpool and Crystal Palace in the early weeks of the season and have looked unplayable at times.

City are on course to score 138 Premier League goals this season if they carry on at this rate. This would smash the existing 38-game scoring record of 103 set by Chelsea in 2009-2010
City are currently two points ahead of rivals Manchester United at the top of the table
They have averaged 3.63 goals per game so far and if they continue in this free-scoring fashion they will score a total of 138 goals over the 38 matches of this Premier League season.
To put this into some kind of context, the record goals tally for a Premier League season is 103, established by Chelsea under Carlo Ancelotti back in 2009-2010 as they won their third title.
City are on course to not only exceed Chelsea's century of goals, but obliterate it, setting a new benchmark that would be nigh-on impossible to beat.
City themselves racked up 102 goals when they won the Premier League in 2013-14 and second-placed Liverpool weren't far behind them on 101.
The Manchester United side that won the Premier League by an 18-point margin in 1999-2000 scored 97 goals, while City's first title-winning team in 2011-12 scored 93.
It was during that season City, managed by Roberto Mancini, started in impressive fashion and had scored 27 goals in their first eight games, just two fewer than this season's return.

Their opening games saw a 5-1 away win at Tottenham and 4-0 successes over Swansea and Blackburn.
Incredibly, City have already scored as many goals in eight league games this season as they managed during the entire 2006-07 season when Stuart Pearce was in charge.
Despite the shortage of goals, City finished in 14th position that year - how times have changed.
Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea scored 103 goals en route to the Premier League trophy in 2010
City could only muster 29 goals in 38 matches under Stuart Pearce during 2006-07
And with every goal that goes in, football historians are having to dig further into the record books.
The last team to score 29 or more goals in their first eight top-flight matches were Everton, who managed 30 at the start of the 1894-95 campaign. But they would end up second in the table behind Sunderland.
The way things are going, City could re-write every scoring record there is in the months to come.
