Real Madrid (4-3-3)
Keylor Navas 8
Two superb saves from Kane, unlucky with the own goal.
Acharf 6
Well contained by Eriksen and Vertongen and looked vulnerable when attacked.
Raphael Varane 6
Got bullied by Kane at times and unsettled for the own goal, but often had class and speed to recover.
Lloris was congratulated by Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino after final whistle
Sergio Ramos 7
Imposing but occasionally showed weakness when Tottenham launched those series of first-half counter attacks.
Marcelo 7
Had a spell when he seemed to struggle with Aurier but recovered and was strong defensively and in attack.
Kroos 7.5
Smooth as ever and clever to win the penalty, surging into box to invite challenge form Aurier.
Casimero 7
Lovey player and but left exposed when Spurs countered with too many men to chase.
Lloris made a stunning save to deny Benzema from point-blank range in the second half
Modric 8.5
Just the finest passer of the ball, the best midfielder on the pitch One pass on 36 minutes inside Spurs defence defied laws of physics.

Came alive in the second half; only Lloris thwarted him. As for the penalty, never a doubt he would score.

Wasteful early on and then denied by a superb Lloris save in second half.
Isco 7.5
Always a threat, continued fine form and looks more at home than ever as star of this side.

Left his team terribly exposed on the counter at times in the first half. Rectified in much better second half, though still vulnerable.

Tottenham (5-3-2)
Hugo Lloris 8.5
Superb. The improvised save with feet from Benzema was outstanding; the one from Ronaldo’s strike even better.

Superb at times going forward as in the own goal; but always prone to the type of error that gave away penalty

Steady and composed: a fine performance under pressure from the best
Tottenham gambled with two strikers in the Bernabeu and were rewarded with a point
Eric Dier 7
Commanding performance at heart of back five – food for thought for Gareth Southgate
Toby Alderweireld 7.5
Solid, robust and generally everything you would expect from Premier League’s finest
Jan Vertonghen 7
Muscular and experienced. Apart from early scares largely kept Achraf quiet
Moussa Sissoko 6.5
Did the muscularity and physicality well – but was untidy at times in possession

Harry Winks 7
Kroos and Modric to counter in midfield? Pochettino trusts young players and they respond. An excellent night

Playing deeper didn’t get to show attacking strengths until 73 minutes when forced Navas save
Fernando Llorente 7
Full of running for team; might have had penalty; lovely ball for Kane chance on 70 minutes
Harry Kane 7
Even if he was marginally offside for the own goal, his presence made it. Denied by Navas on 70 minutes when he could have won it

What looked like a defensive shape morphed into effective counter attacking unit. Surprised everyone and enhance his reputation
