The days of a flimsy Tottenham Hotspur are over and they must now be regarded as one of Europe's best teams, according to Roy Keane.

Spurs were impressive in earning a 1-1 draw at Real Madrid in the Champions League, which puts them in with a great chance of reaching the last 16.

Keane feels manager Mauricio Pochettino has changed the way Spurs are regarded, and they will be a side to be avoided should they make the knock-out stages.

Speaking on ITV, Keane said: 'Spurs are rock solid. They are full of energy, brave with courage, they belong with top teams in Europe. The manager and players deserve credit.

'You looked at the group at the start and obviously you thought Dortmund would be difficult, but it looks like they get out of the group and will be a threat.

'They are short of one or two to go and win this trophy, but in the knock-out stages they have a great chance.'

When fellow pundit and former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon admitted Spurs are better than the Gunners, Keane added: 'Miles better'.

While Arsenal play in the Europa League this season, Tottenham have began their Champions League campaign impressively.

The point at the Bernabeu followed a 3-1 win at Wembley over Borussia Dortmund, and a 3-0 victory away to APOEL Nicosia.
