Carlo Ancelotti is one man who would have been happy it ended honours even at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night due to his allegiances to Chelsea and Roma.

The unemployed manager, who was sacked by Bayern Munich in September, saw his former sides play out a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Champions League group stage.

However, Hazard netted his second of the evening with 15 minutes remaining to save the host's blushes.

Ancelotti would have had mixed feelings while watching the game from the stands as he managed Chelsea and played for Roma.

The 58-year-old Italian donned the famous Roma shirt for eight years between 1979 and 1987. He won one Serie A title and four Italian Cups during his time in the capital.

Ancelotti, who has had the privilege of coaching in Italy, England, France, Spain and Germany, went on to lead Chelsea to the FA Cup and Premier League Double in 2010 before being sacked the following year.

He wrote on Instagram: 'It's a pleasure to return to Stamford Bridge to enjoy a great Champions match #ucl #cfc #chelsea #asroma.'

While he was happy with the result, fellow countryman Antonio Conte was not and stated his displeasure after the Group C clash.

'I didn't like the type of football we did for a lot of the game, but it's right to take the responsibility for this,' Conte said.

'I tried on one hand to protect my team, to become more solid and to move our central defender into midfield. On the other hand we lost totally our style of football.

'Sometimes you have to find the right solution to try to protect your team. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. But you know very well our situation.

'It was good to draw. Roma deserved this result. I have to praise my players, because my players showed me a big effort, a big commitment. Otherwise we lose the game.'

Chelsea remain top of Group C after three matches despite failing to win.
