Gareth Bale could be set for a sensational return to Tottenham Hotspur, with Real Madrid ready to offload the Welsh winger.

According to don balon, The Spanish giants are growing increasingly frustrated with Bale's constant grappling with injury to the extent that they are prepared to offload him next summer.

The Wales international is currently out of action with yet another calf injury - the eighth he has suffered since moving to the Bernabeu in 2013.

He missed the majority of last season due to calf and ankle problems, and his most recent complaint forced him to miss Wales' crucial World Cup qualifier with the Republic of Ireland, as well as a reunion with Spurs at the Bernabeu on Tuesday.


It could be a return to the north London club that most suits the 28-year-old should he be deemed surplus to requirements by Zinedine Zidane this summer.

They could face competition though, with both Manchester United and Chelsea having had approaches for the forward turned down over previous windows.

Should Bale be available again the pair would almost certainly be back in for him, but the pull of an emotional return to Spurs could prove too strong. 

Bale has found himself slipping down the pecking order at Real following his injury problems, with Marco Asensio having broken into the first team plans.
