The first two English players to join Juan Mata's Common Goal charity will be announced on Friday as the initiative continues to gain momentum.

The two Premier League stars have come forward in recent weeks after learning of Mata's campaign to donate one percent of his salary to help underprivileged children and hope to be joined by an experienced Championship player in the coming weeks.

Sportsmail reported earlier this month how English footballers had yet to step forward to support Manchester United midfielder Mata despite Bayern Munich's Mats Hummels, Giorgio Chiellini of Juventus and Serge Gnabry also joining the cause.

Today, Turkey international and Fenerbahce defender Hasan Ali Kaldirim has become the latest to sign up to the Common Goal team but the arrival of players from the richest league in the world will be seen as a major breakthrough.

Mata and organisers from streetfootballworld have been keen to stress that the aim is to make the charity stronger by forming a team of global contributors with the ultimate aim of bringing in a football institution to also donate one percent of their earnings.

Mata flew over children he met in the Mumbai slums last summer to Manchester for a tour of United's Old Trafford ground last week and took the opportunity to exhibit photographs from his trip at the National Football Museum.
