Tottenham 4-1 Liverpool, RESULT: Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min all on target as Reds' defence endure nightmare afternoon

A pretty entertaining Super Sunday, eh? We were treated to 12 goals across two games - but sadly that is all we have for you today.

Here's how the Premier League table looks following today's matches: 

Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham brushed aside Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley on Sunday afternoon thanks to some disastrous defending from the away team. 

Kane and Son Heung-min both scored inside 12 minutes as Tottenham marched into a two-goal lead before Mohamed Salah halved the deficit midway through the opening period. 

Dele Alli had the final say in a breathless first half as he fired home a weak clearance from Joel Matip before Kane scored his second of the match in the 56th minute following yet more suspect defending from Liverpool.

An afternoon to forget for Liverpool...

90+1 mins: Salah brings the ball forward as Liverpool mount one more attack.

But as they have done all match, Spurs' defence have enough bodies behind the ball to clear the danger. 

Just the two minutes of added time in London. 

89 mins: Sturridge gets the ball on the edge of the box, finds Milner but the cross is over-hit. Woeful performance from the Anfield outfit today. 

88 mins: A worry for Tottenham fans as Kane leaves the pitch holding the top of his hamstring. He doesn't look too concerned but he certainly seemed in a bit of discomfort there. 

The striker is replaced by Llorente. 

86 mins: The Tottenham fans urge on Sissoko, who shows great pace to get to the long ball ahead of Moreno. He can't beat his marker at the first time of asking but then shows persistence to hound the Liverpool defence and win the ball back. 

85 mins: Liverpool have a free-kick deep in Tottenham's half after Salah clipped from behind by Sanchez.

The Egyptian sends the ball in but Vertonghen heads away the danger. 

83 mins: Klopp throws on Grujic, bringing off Can. 

82 mins: It's Liverpool who have had most of the ball in the last 15 minutes, but Spurs defence has looked assured all match.

Sadly the same can't be said of the visitors...

81 mins: Dier is going to get a little run out, the midfielder comes on for Eriksen. 

79 mins: Moreno bursts down the left side but rather than sending the ball into the box, he opts to hold on to possession and Liverpool patiently pass the ball around. 

To no avail though, as Spurs get hold of the ball, Alli shows some fine skill to beat his made and they break. Dier about to come on. 

78 mins: Liverpool are still knocking on the door in search for a second goal which would make for a nervy finish for Spurs - and they almost find it.

This time it's Salah who tests Lloris, but it's straight at him and the stopper saves with his feet. 

77 mins: Sturridge comes on for Firmino for Liverpool.

73 mins: Coutinho does it all by himself and tries another long-range strike. It's well-hit but again, Lloris gets his positioning spot on and he comfortably gathers the ball. 

Another fine performance by the Frenchman. 

71 mins: The job for Liverpool now is to try and give their fans something to cheer about... Coutinho hasn't been in the game at all today. 

Milner has a chance at goal but his strike from a tight angle is turned out for a corner by Lloris. 

69 mins: Son leaves the Wembley pitch to a standing ovation, and deservedly so. He is replaced by Sissoko, who has just over 20 minutes to impress an already-delighted home crowd. 

66 mins: Superb stuff from Lloris, who produces a wonderful save to keep in tact Spurs' three goal lead. 

It's Coutinho who tests the Frenchman. The Brazilian opens his body and lets fly with a left-footed strike which is heading towards the top corner before Lloris tips the ball onto his crossbar. 

A matter of seconds later and Lloris gathers the ball again, this time from Moreno's hopeful long-range shot. 

Kane grabbed his second after another defensive mistake: 

60 mins: Liverpool's attack hasn't given up just yet, as Oxlade-Chamberlain looks to bring the ball forward.

But it comes to nothing and Spurs then break through Son, who shows great pace to bring the ball forward and win a corner for the hosts. Sanchez is unmarked in the box but opts for a hopeful volley and completely misses his kick. 

Another disastrous goal for Liverpool to give away, again questions will be asked of their defending - and again Kane comes up with the goods to grab a second. 

The free-kick is parried by Mignolet, Vertonghen's effort is cleared off the line but the ball fortunately finds its way to Kane, who takes a touch before smashing it home for a fourth.

Turmoil for Liverpool. Jubilation for Tottenham. Wembley is bouncing.  

54 mins: Matip gives away a free-kick on the edge of the Liverpool box and Tottenham have a great chance here. 

51 mins: Vertonghen shows his defensive capabilities to challenge Salah, who would have had space ahead of him had he beaten the Belgian centre back. 

Liverpool beginning to knock on the door, with Oxlade-Chamberlain looking lively down the left side for the visitors. 

50 mins: Aurier going on a surge down the left flank and he does well to a win a corner for his team. It's whipped in and Kane gets his head to the ball - but it's glanced wide. 

48 mins: Tottenham just trying to slow this game down a bit, you suspect they were the instructions giving to them by Pochettino at half-time. 

46 mins: Klopp obviously made his feelings known at half-time, as his side have immediately come out the blocks. 

Salah brings the ball forward down the right flank but the ball is eventually cleared by Spurs. And like they did in the first half, they look very threatening on the counter attack.

We're back underway at Wembley, with Tottenham getting us restarted.

Maradona out on the pitch at half time for a brief interview on the mic. Handed a Spurs scarf and shirt with No 10 Maradona on the back, which he whirled around his head.

Great ovation for him.

Well that was entertaining wasn't it? Just when it looked like Liverpool would go into half-time with every chance of getting something from this game, their task has been made harder. 

Two defensive mistakes from Dejan Lovren allowed Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to give Spurs a two-goal lead before Mo Salah pulled one back. 

But on the stroke of half-time, Dele Alli made the most of Joel Matip's weak clearance to volley home a third. 

That foul from Can proves costly - and what a time to score for Tottenham.

Matip's clearance from the delivery is poor and Alli is in the right place at the right time to fire home a first-time volley and restore Spurs' two-goal lead. 

45+2 mins: Can goes into the booking for a foul and Spurs have a free-kick. 

45+1 mins: Liverpool's defence looks more confident now Gomez has moved centrally following Lovren's substitution. 

We'll have two minutes more of play at Wembley.

43 mins: This time Lloris does sense the danger and he is immediately off his line to latch on to the loose ball and head it it clear. 

And it's a good choice as it almost releases Son, but Moreno is aware of the danger and shows his pace to get hold of the ball. 

Joe Gomez to centre-half and Emre Can to right back after Dejan Lovren substitution. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain up front on the left and Philippe Coutinho is into midfield three.

41 mins: A fortunate deflection from Aurier's pass allows Spurs to break but Kane's cross is over-hit and Liverpool get the back deep in their half. 

39 mins: Tottenham on the backfoot now but Liverpool waste an opportunity to send the ball into the box when Coutinho decides to take a short corner to Salah, whose pass is intercepted by Spurs. 

Salah pulled Liverpool backed into the game with a right-footed effort:

36 mins: And there almost was a second goal for Liverpool! Oxlade-Chamberlain dinks the ball into the box but Aurier times his header well to win the ball - and Spurs are able to clear. 

35 mins: Tottenham looking the more likely to find this game's fourth goal but Liverpool are looking threatening on the attack.

Firmino in particular looks dangerous on the right flank, running at Sanchez and Aurier at every opportunity.  

There's certainly more goals in this. 

A certain Diego Maradona is in the stands today: 

31 mins: Lovren's nightmare afternoon comes to an end as Oxlade-Chamberlain comes on for the unfortunate Croatian. 

He wasn't fully fit heading into this game and now Klopp has decided to change things around. 

30 mins: What a game we're being treated to again this afternoon. End-to-end action - and that Salah goal has breathed life into Liverpool. 

Speaking on Sky Sports during the match, he said: 'Klopp's team are capable of getting back in this game, they can be scintillating.

'But his centre back and his goalkeeper will always kill him, they are not good enough, they will always let him down.'

Well done Andre Marriner for allowing play to continue when Kane goes to ground. It wasn’t a foul and Liverpool benefit. 

Well I didn't expect that - and it comes out of nowhere. Tottenham look to release Kane again but he is challenged. 

Liverpool then attack, with Henderson releasing Salah with a long ball behind the Spurs defence. 

Lloris opts to stay on his line, giving the Egyptian a chance at goal and his right-footed strike trickles over the line, with the help of the post, to bring Liverpool back into this match. 

Game on. 

Tottenham doubled their lead through Son, who got in the end of Kane's cross to finish first time: 

20 mins: Klopp's Liverpool are completely shell-shocked out there on the Wembley pitch. 

They can't get hold of the ball and Tottenham look like they're going to score every time they get near the away goal.

Here's how Harry Kane opened the scoring in the fourth minute: 

Sean Dyche would be proud of Harry Kane. The Spurs striker could have gone down after small contact from Simon Mignolet but he stays up and scores. 

15 mins: Tottenham are playing some wonderful football and Son almost scores a third for the rampant hosts. 

The Spurs man brings the ball under control and lets fly with a right-footed shot but it smashes the crossbar and bounces away to safety. 

That would have been some goal. 

Absolute nightmare for Lovren, who is at fault for a second time at Wembley.

The Croatia international bizarrely tries to win the ball with his head on the halfway line but completely misjudges the flight of the ball. 

That gives Kane the chance to run clear at goal and the striker, scorer of Spurs first, finds Son unmarked in the box and he finishes first time to double the hosts' lead. 

10 mins: That goal has given Tottenham the confidence at Wembley, Liverpool are stunned after beginning the game the better of the two teams. 

That's changed Klopp's game plan now - and once again questions will be asked of his defence. 

Harry makes the headlines again - and that didn't take long at all.

Mignolet comes out to put pressure on the striker but makes a meal of it, failing to win the ball and Kane keeps his composure to fire home into the empty net. 

Having said that, I think that goes down as a Lovren mistake. He tried to play Kane offside, despite his defensive team-mates been a couple of yards behind him, and then failed to clear the ball with his head, to let Kane through on goal.

The striker had a few Liverpool players in front of him but he keeps his cool and it's Tottenham who have the lead. 

3 mins: Salah looks to break free down the right wing but Aurier times his challenge perfectly to challenge the winger, winning a goal kick for his team.

2 mins: A big game today for Harry Winks, who is playing without Eric Dier - the Spurs midfielder is only fit enough to make the bench. 

Winks will provide the midfield shield for the three-man defence and will need to help Kane and Co in the attack too. Certainly one to keep an eye on. 

1 mins: Liverpool look to play the long ball up the pitch but Moreno's ball is over-hit. Good atmosphere at Wembley. 

We're underway at Wembley Stadium in a game which has all the ingredients for a blockbuster of a match this afternoon.

Liverpool get us started and will attack the Spurs goal from right to left. 

After a run of four wins and a draw between 2010 and 2012, Spurs are winless in their last nine Premier League games against Liverpool (W0 D3 L6).

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last four away league games against Spurs (W2 D2), conceding just one goal in that time and netting nine themselves. Wembley Stadium could become the 53rd different ground that Liverpool have won a Premier League game at – their current record of 52 is the highest of any club in the competition.

There have been 140 goals scored in Premier League matches between Tottenham and Liverpool, two goals shy of the current record set by both Everton/Man Utd and Chelsea/Tottenham (142).

This fixture has also seen a Premier League record of nine own goals scored – three of those were netted by Jamie Carragher in Spurs’ favour, which is the same tally of goals that he scored for Liverpool during his 508-game Premier League career at the club.

After winning his first two meetings with Liverpool in March and September 2013 with Southampton, Mauricio Pochettino has failed to win any of his subsequent seven Premier League games against the Reds (D3 L4). Only against Chelsea (5) has he lost more Premier League games than versus Liverpool (4).

This exact fixture was Jurgen Klopp’s first-ever Premier League game as a manager, back on October 17th 2015. Since that date, Liverpool have won 137 Premier League points, which is the sixth best tally in this period and 23 fewer than Spurs; who have the most in this timeframe (160).

Harry Kane hasn’t scored in either of his Premier League home appearances against Liverpool (173 mins) – the only side he’s faced more often without finding the net at home in the competition is Crystal Palace (three apps, 269 mins).
