Everton are in crisis and manager-less after spending £135m last summer... so which of Ronald Koeman's signings have failed to live up to their billing?

  • Everton slipped into the relegation zone following a 5-2 defeat by Arsenal
  • Ronald Koeman was sacked by Everton after winning just two of the last 13 ties
  • The Toffees were tipped to break into the top six following a huge summer spree
  • Koeman sold Romelu Lukaku for £75m but then failed to adequately replace him

Ronald Koeman has been sacked by Everton after seeing them drop into the Premier League relegation zone on Sunday night.

The Toffees have won just two of their last 13 games - one on penalties against Sunderland in the EFL Cup - and have seen their identity slip away this season.

Koeman made eight major signings in the summer as he set about spending the Romelu Lukaku money.

Input into new players came from the former manager, board and Steve Walsh but very few have paid off so far. Here, Sportsmail looks at how the eight have done.

Nikola Vlasic (Hajduk Split - £10m)

The 20-year-old has only made three Premier League starts so far but more will definitely follow given Everton supporters warmed to him straight away. A bundle of energy, Vlasic is one of only very few to have shown purpose on the ball so far this season. 7/10

Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea - £45m)

A dire start to life at Goodison Park, bearing all the hallmarks of his big move to Tottenham back in 2012. Seems to be short on confidence and self-belief, which is staggering after the sensational season Sigurdsson enjoyed last year. 4/10

Davy Klaassen (Ajax - £23.6m)

The highlight of his stay is undoubtedly being caught on camera dancing while on a sober night out in Liverpool weeks after signing. Koeman admitted the Dutchman is struggling badly and he has not even gone close to matching his reputation so far, particularly in the Europa League defeats. 3/10

Cuco Martina (Southampton - free)

Admitted his surprise at how many minutes Koeman has given him so far, which tells its own story. Good going forward, as evidenced at Southampton, but doesn’t look up to it defensively and Everton are really missing Seamus Coleman. 5/10

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United - free)

Despite his brush with the law, Rooney’s been one of the early season bright sparks. His goals have been crucial - things might’ve been even worse than they already are. Has looked isolated up front, and not exactly a direct replacement for Lukaku, but can still change a game. 7/10

Michael Keane (Burnley - £25m)

Nowhere near as assured as he was in a Burnley shirt and that is a product of indecisiveness around him. Keane has not looked as competent in the air and has made some fairly high-profile errors. The from of Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka is hardly helping though in fairness. 5/10

Sandro Ramirez (Malaga - £5.2m)

Has been played out of position by Koeman in his rare outings. Wasn’t even in the squad for Sunday’s defeat by Arsenal and the speed of games seem to have taken Ramirez by surprise when he has been used. 4/10

Jordan Pickford (Sunderland - £25m)

The youngster’s famed distribution has not been quite as accurate as billed and there have been mistakes along the way. But there have been big saves and he is still one of England’s finest stoppers. A settled defence would give Pickford half a chance. 6/10
