Leicester have abandoned plans to take an appeal over Adrien Silva's registration to the Court of Arbitration to Sport after FIFA blocked an expedited process.
The club had hoped for a quick hearing so Silva could play before next year but world football's governing body refused to agree.
Leicester are understood to be seething at the development, having found forensic IT evidence that documents were lodged with FIFA before the deadline of the summer window.

But FIFA's stance means midfielder Silva, a £22million signing from Sporting Lisbon, cannot be registered for Leicester until January 1.
The Portugal international will not be able to play in that day's game at home to Huddersfield due to regulations so his first action in a Leicester shirt would be the following weekend's FA Cup tie.
Silva was brought in on deadline day as Chelsea reached Leicester's demands for Danny Drinkwater, but FIFA say paperwork on the international clearance was lodged 14 seconds late.
Leicester dispute that and released a statement which read: 'It was our intention to submit an application to the Court of Arbitration for Sport for expedited proceedings so that the matter could be resolved as quickly as possible.

'However, it has been made clear to us that FIFA will not support an expedited process, forcing the club to reluctantly accept the single-judge ruling of FIFA's Players' Status Committee without reasonable opportunity for independent arbitration that is timely enough to be effective.
'Our frustration at the denial of effective due process doubles our disappointment at the original outcome and while the club is now essentially powerless to continue to challenge the decision, we will continue to support Adrien in any personal appeal he wishes to undertake.
'We intend to register Adrien at the earliest opportunity. In the meantime, he will remain under our care, training with the squad under the supervision of our coaching, medical and sport science staff.'
