Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs urges fans to stick with summer signing Victor Lindelof: 'He shouldn't be written off just yet, he just needs to knuckle down and come through this'

- But United icon Giggs has insisted it is too early to write off the £30m defender
Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs has urged fans not to give up hope on Victor Lindelof after the summer arrival's woeful start to life at Old Trafford.
The former Benfica man got his chance to make a statement when Phil Jones was forced off with an injury during the first half of Saturday's shock 2-1 away defeat against Huddersfield.
But a nervy-looking Lindelof, who came on for only his second Premier League appearance, failed to take what was a rare opportunity by playing a part in both the home side's goals.

The Sweden international's poor start to his United career has seen him fail to force his way into Jose Mourinho's regular starting XI.
But former United midfielder Giggs believes it is far too soon to jump to conclusions about Lindelof, who signed for a hefty fee of £30million in June.
'One player who has attracted a lot of criticism is Lindelof but he certainly shouldn't be written off yet,' Giggs told Sky Sports.
'Some players come to the Premier League and bed in straight away and others can take six months or even a year, as it was for Patrice Evra, Jaap Stam and Nemanja Vidic, and they went on to be unbelievable players.

'You win together and lose together and you can't single out a player, especially when he hasn't been playing regularly.
'He's just got to knuckle down and come through this.'
After Saturday's loss to the Premier League new boys, who previously hadn't won a top-flight game since August, midfielder Ander Herrera publicly criticised the passion of United's players.
Giggs, a former player and coach at the club, feels he was wrong to comment on his team-mates.
Giggs also questioned Ander Herrera for his comments after the 2-1 loss to Huddersfield
'I am a little bit surprised at Ander Herrera's comments because you wouldn't really comment about your team-mates, you leave that to the manager,' he said.
'When you start questioning your team-mates' work rates, even if they weren't at it, it can set a dangerous precedent.
'Losing to Huddersfield was obviously disappointing but you can never be surprised in the Premier League.
'You have to be right at it every weekend and Manchester United clearly weren't after two tough away games at Liverpool and Benfica.'
