Philippe Coutinho has been ruled out of Liverpool’s clash against Huddersfield and is a doubt for next week’s Champions League tie with Maribor.

Coutinho has a groin strain which will see him sidelined for the visit of David Wagner’s Terriers.

And the Brazilian has a race to prove his fitness for matches against both Maribor and West Ham United next week.

Jurgen Klopp is still missing Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana, with attacking options limited for Saturday.

The Liverpool manager promised changes after a worrying defeat by Tottenham at Wembley, with question marks over who will play at the back.

But there are now further issues to address, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a potential option to replace the injured Coutinho.

Klopp told reporters on Friday: ‘Last week he had some back problem before Tottenham. It settled and he was fit. This week he’s had a little bit of a problem.’
