Glenn Murray was satisfied with Brighton's 1-1 draw against south-coast rivals Southampton.

He added: 'It ebbed and flowed and maybe we were hanging on a bit at the end. But I think 1-1 is a fair result.

'It was important we scored early in the second half. We pushed them for the win, but in the end we couldn't quite get it and settled for a draw.'

Murray followed up his brace at West Ham in Brighton's last Premier League outing by heading home Pascal Gross' cross in the 52nd minute.

The 34-year-old has taken his chance in Chris Hughton's starting line-up following the absence of the suspended Tomer Hemed.

'I can't do much more, but it is about the team and getting points in the Premier League, whoever plays,' Murray added.

Gross, a summer signing from Ingolstadt, provided another fine assist as he caught the eye again.

'It is all right at the moment,' he said. 'But you can improve every time.

'We want to improve as a team and also as a player. I am happy with a good start and I want to go forward.'
