Real Madrid head to Wembley to play Tottenham in the Champions League on the back of an embarrassing defeat at Girona and without Gareth Bale

Real Madrid go to Wembley on Wednesday to face Tottenham after a disappointing defeat by Girona, which left them eight points off the lead in La Liga.

Zinedine Zidane has admitted they are lacking concentration and - to make matters worse - Gareth Bale is set to miss the trip to London.

'Bale is still in the process of recuperation,' said Zidane when asked about his missing Welshman.

It was a day when his team could have done with his pace and power against a brave Girona side who deserved their win.

'We cannot afford to dwell on this,' said Zidane. 'We played well in the first half but we were not so good in the second period. I don't think we played badly. And we gave everything right until the end but there were moments when we lacked concentration.'

Madrid now go into the game with Spurs in third and a long way off the pace.

Girona fans and players alike were thrilled when they stunned Real Madrid 2-1 on Sunday

Cristhian Stuani pegged Real Madrid back with a wonderfully taken equaliser

'I'm sure you are going to ask about the eight points [now behind Barcelona]' Zidane said. 'The rivals will drop points too. We will need to analyse the game.

'I'm upset for the players but now we have a Champions League game to play on Wednesday. We are now just thinking about Wednesday.'

Asked if he thought the league was now difficult he said: 'No, completely the opposite. We have lost three points again but it is just three points. They were quick and direct. But we have no choice but to think about the next game against Spurs. The league is very long and I'm not worried.

'The players cannot be content but today is a bad day. We go home and we recharge the batteries for Wednesday because that is a very big game.'
