Troy Deeney is facing a three-match ban after being charged with violent conduct by the Football Association for 'gouging' the face of Stoke's Joe Allen.
Watford's captain was cautioned by Michael Oliver but the referee did not see the specific incident of Deeney digging his thumbnails into Allen's cheeks.
A panel of three former referees reviewed the video footage and the 29-year-old's club now has until 6pm on Tuesday to respond.

The Watford striker sank his hands into Allen's face and grabbed him around the neck
The striker was only booked for his actions during injury time as Watford lost 1-0 to Stoke
Watford insiders say they will decide on Tuesday morning whether to contest it.
The Hornets' next three games are against Everton, West Ham and Newcastle.
There were several scuffles during Saturday's 1-0 for Stoke at Vicarage Road and Deeney's occurred in stoppage time.
It came after Deeney refused to sportingly give Stoke the ball back, despite them having kicked it out for a throw-in following an injury.
Stoke boss Mark Hughes pointed out in his post-match press conference that the FA should look into the incident. 'Deeney, the captain, should know better,' he said.
Allen laughed it off when asked about it afterwards.
Deeney also laughed in the face of the Wales international midfielder during the incident
Deeney is pulled away from the incident on Saturday by his team-mate Richarlison
