  • The Spaniard is in talks over a 12-month extension of his contract at the Etihad
  • He admits to praying every night that City can win the Champions League

David Silva says he wants to sign a new contract with Manchester City to complete 10 years at the Etihad and 'prays every night' to win the Champions League.

Silva, a £26million signing from Valencia in the summer of 2010, is in talks over a 12-month extension to tie himself to City until 2020.

Speaking ahead of the Champions League Group F clash with Napoli in the Stadio San Paolo on Wednesday night, he said: 'We are still talking. I hope I can sign soon because I would love to be here and play for City 10 years.'

Asked what it would be like to win the European Cup under Pep Guardiola, he added: 'It would be amazing. I pray every night to win the Champions League with City. Hopefully we can win this year.

'We are playing really good football, beautiful football, scoring so many goals and creating a lot of chances.'

Silva is likely to be the only survivor from the City side that lost to Napoli in Italy in 2011 when the two teams meet here again.

However, City only need a draw this time to qualify for the knockout stage for the fifth year in a row after winning their first three group games.

Like City, Napoli are top of their league having dropped just two points this season, and are unbeaten at home in all competitions since losing to Real Madrid in March.

Silva added: 'I remember we lost that game so I don't have good memories of this stadium. Hopefully that will change tomorrow. Napoli is a really good team.

'It's difficult to keep the high intensity of the game so we have to try tomorrow to keep it as long as possible to win the game.'

Silva has established himself as one of the most creative players in the Premier League and admits that he is relishing a more central role under Guardiola after playing a wider role in the past.

'I think it's a good position for me,' he added. 'I love to play in the middle and be in contact with the ball all the time.

'To create chances you have to be more involved in game so I'm very happy to play in that positon.'
