Liverpool fans vote Dejan Lovren as player of the month with Mohamed Salah after defender gets death threat
- Dejan Lovren was left incensed by a death threat on Instagram on Monday
- The defender has since received a groundswell of support in the fan vote
- Lovren has struggled to produce his finest form for Liverpool this season
Dejan Lovren is set to be voted Liverpool's player of the month for October alongside Mohamed Salah in a show of support from fans after he received a death threat earlier this week.
The centre-back surged to 33 per cent of the poll on the club website, level with Salah, after he was left incensed by a message received on Instagram on Monday from a user threatening to kill his family.
In a follow-up post on the social media site, Lovren said: 'I don't mind when people talk s*** about me, it says more about them. But I cannot ignore when my family is threatened. I just can't and won't accept that. Disgusting.'

Lovren (left) has struggled for form this season and was substituted early at Tottenham
The gesture towards Lovren has added warmth considering the Croatia defender has struggled for his best form on the pitch this season.
The 28-year-old was substituted off by manager Jurgen Klopp after only 30 minutes of Liverpool's 4-1 defeat by Tottenham at Wembley in October. Lovren had made two errors which led to Tottenham goals.
But Klopp kept faith with Lovren, backing him in his pre-match press conference before the 3-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday. Lovren was set to start, only to sustain a thigh injury in the warm-up at Anfield.
Klopp said prior to Huddersfield: 'I don't wish one of you to have your mistakes discussed in public. You cannot even imagine how it feels.
'The boys are in the first place still human beings but you look like you are watching an accident and you are the kind of people standing around with smartphones instead of helping. I'm not this kind of person.
'We had a normal week. Of course it's not the nicest week in Dejan's life but it's only football.'
Lovren watched from the stands as Liverpool defeated Maribor 3-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.
It is not known yet exactly how long he will be out injured for.
