An electronic sign lit up to welcome the new manager ahead of his first press conference
‘It’s good for me. I’m back in. It’s what I love doing. I wanted to get back. I want to do well. It’s also good for West Ham. They’ve got a good manager.
‘I've got a point to prove. Sometimes you have to repair things. Maybe I've got a little bit to repair.
‘I’m taking over a great football club. It used to be one of the most fearsome places to come play football. Going to Upton Park was a really, really tough place to go.
‘I don’t see why it should be any different now (at the London Stadium). This is a squad that shouldn’t be in the position they're in.'
There had been criticism of West Ham's fitness under Slaven Bilic. Moyes fired a warning their way: 'There will be no favours. If they don't do the running, they're not playing.

But the Scot was quick to fire a warning to his players, stating: 'If you don't run you don't play'
'If you don't run you will not play. If you don't do the training and you're not fit enough, you will not play.'
Moyes was appointed as West Ham manager on Tuesday morning then immediately put the players through their paces in training.
It was in 2013-14 when he was in charge of United before his spells at Sociedad and Sunderland. Moyes' contract at Old Trafford was supposed to last until 2019.
He is on a short-term deal with the Hammers and said: ‘Managers now aren’t having long-term contracts and it is something we will come to see more in the future.
'You see the turnover of managers at the moment. I’m taking over a couple of months into the season and I’m happy to go until the end of the season.
‘I was contacted just after the weekend. I was out in Qatar doing some TV. Was there interest? I said yes very quickly. That was how it started. A couple quick meetings and I found myself here at the start of the weekend.’
