Manchester United are preparing a £40million January bid for Tottenham left-back Danny Rose - and could offer Luke Shaw as a makeweight in the deal.
The England international was left out of Tottenham's squad for Saturday's North London Derby defeat to Arsenal as he tries to build fitness following 10 weeks out with a knee injury.
And, according to the Sunday Mirror, United are ready to offer Rose an escape route in a deal which could see Shaw head the other way.

Luke Shaw could head the other way as United offload the injury-prone defender
Mauricio Pochettino insisted after Tottenham's 2-0 defeat he had not fallen out with Rose and said the defender was on a different training routine to the first-team squad.
But Rose, 27, had played in three Tottenham games since returning from his injury lay-off and also featured in England's friendlies with Germany and Brazil last week.
United will double Rose's current wages of around £65,000-a-week and offload the injury-prone Shaw, who has failed to make an impression at Old Trafford since his £30m arrival from Southampton.
