Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has admitted he would have no hesitation towards welcoming Mesut Ozil at Old Trafford once his contract with Arsenal expires in the summer.
A £45.5million signing from Real Madrid in 2013, Ozil could leave the Emirates Stadium for nothing when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old enjoyed the best period of his career under Jose Mourinho during three seasons in Spain, and Ozil has been heavily linked with a move to United.
Rio Ferdinand has admitted he would be delighted if Mesut Ozil signed for Manchester United
When asked if Ferdinand would take Ozil at Old Trafford before United played Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday, the former defender insisted he would welcome him with open arms.
'Since he signed in the Premier League he has had the most assists and chances created in the entire division so that tells you the standard of player he is.
'I played against him when he was at Real Madrid and he was different player from what I've seen here.
'He is deceptively quick and if you can get that out of him, with the technical ability he has, then I would take him at Man United as a free transfer all day, no doubt.'

Chelsea icon Frank Lampard agreed with his former England team-mate but claimed Ozil would need to go up a level to have maximum impact at Old Trafford.
'Definitely you would take him but you do need that extra bit out of him,' Lampard said.
'He has to start affecting these big games. He can do that because of the quality he has.'
