Manchester City 2-1 West Ham PLAYER RATINGS: Nicolas Otamendi shines as defensive partner Eliaquim Mangala has a day to forget

Manchester City came from behind to beat West Ham 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, restoring their eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League

Second half strikes from Nicolas Otamendi and David Silva saw Pep Guardiola's men take home the three points after Angelo Ogbonna's opener.

Here Sportsmail's Jack Gaughan rates the performances of the two sets of players.

MANCHESTER CITY (4-3-3)

Ederson - 6

Might feel as if he could have kept Angelo Ogbonna’s opener out and endured a couple of other difficult moments. Top save late on.

Kyle Walker - 6

Possibly might have forced himself upon the West Ham back five more often.

Nicolas Otamendi - 7.5

The only home player who stood out in the first half. Scored the equaliser on another strong afternoon.

Eliaquim Mangala - 5

A bag of nerves, just as he was against Feyenoord in the Champions League. Not good enough on the ball for Pep Guardiola.

Danilo - 5

In danger of becoming this season’s Claudio Bravo after another wasted opportunity at left back. Hooked at half-time.

Fabian Delph - 6.5

Seemed freer when moved to left back and his jinking runs were a real outlet.

Kevin De Bruyne - 7

A quiet day for De Bruyne but still produced moments of real quality - none more so than for David Silva’s late goal.

David Silva - 7

The radar for real defence-splitting balls might’ve been a little off but managed to nudge City a winner.

Raheem Sterling - 6.5

Looks hungry for goals but found himself crowded out by West Ham’s wall for much of this.

Sergio Aguero - 5.5

Unusually quiet and lacked that spark we have come to expect. Marked out of it for large parts.

Leroy Sane - 6

Grew into the match as Pablo Zabaleta tired. A little keen to shoot from distance.

Subs

Gabriel Jesus (for Danilo, 46) - 8

Completely changed the game in a free role and gave City a fresh impetus.

Fernandinho (for Aguero, 85)

Extra solidity in midfield after Silva’s goal.

Bernardo Silva (for Sane, 90)

Late change.

WEST HAM UNITED (5-3-1-1)

Adrian - 7.5

Made a number of super stops while making a compelling case for beating Joe Hart to the No 1 shirt.

Pablo Zabaleta - 6.5

Impressively kept Sane at arm’s length on City’s left for the first 45 minutes before struggling later.

Declan Rice - 7

A few rash moments but threw himself in front of everything and wasn’t often caught in behind.

Angelo Ogbonna - 7

Rose well for the goal and stuck to his task in marshalling Aguero and City’s runners.

Aaron Cresswell - 6.5

Certainly not his favoured position as a centre half but was adept at covering runs from midfield.

Arthur Masuaku - 7

One of his better days. Got forward well when possible and was more attentive to his defensive responsibilities.

Edimilson Fernandes - 7

Tireless in midfield, broke up play well and kept things simple.

Pedro Obiang - 6

Not eye-catching but that is what Moyes will have wanted. No mistakes.

Cheikhou Kouyate - 6

Sat in front of the back five to good effect before coming off injury.

Manuel Lanzini - 6

Guilty of losing the ball in key areas as City flew forward and was replaced with 20 minutes left.

Michail Antonio - 7

A workhorse leading the line before then reverting to the right as David Moyes switched things up.

Subs

Diafra Sakho (for Kouyate, 43) - 6.5

Gave Mangala and Otamendi problems up front.

Marko Arnautovic (for Lanzini, 69) - 6

Fresh legs to the defensive effort.

Andre Ayew (for Antonio, 88)

Antonio forced off injured.
