Manchester United fan Jamie Murray visits Carrington to meet David de Gea, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Co: 'He made a racket after the Arsenal win'

  • Tennis star Jamie Murray has been a Manchester United fan since he was seven
  • He stopped by their training ground to have a photo with some of their players
  • The Scot was presented with his own United No 1 shirt on Monday afternoon

Three-time Grand Slam mixed doubles winner Jamie Murray has supported Manchester United since he was seven years old.

On Monday, he made a fleeting visit to Carrington to meet some of the club's stars during training — posing for pictures as the players look to build on Saturday's stunning win over Arsenal.

Murray, older brother of two-time Wimbledon winner Andy, couldn't resist a snap with some of the great players currently plying their trade at Old Trafford — Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Romelu Lukaku and David de Gea to name but a few.

'Brilliant day out at Carrington,' said the 31-year-old Scot.

Jose Mourinho's side beat the Gunners 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium and United's Twitter account alluded to the win in the form of a quintessential 'dad joke'.

'We're sure Jamie Murray was making quite a racket after Saturday's win over Arsenal — eh, Andy Murray?,' they tweeted.

Very punny indeed. Murray was presented with his own United shirt at their training complex and smiled from ear to ear in each photo.

'I got into United when I was about seven or eight years old, probably because they were the best team at the time,' he told the club's website a couple of years ago.

'As I got older, I became a much bigger fan because of them having a Scottish manager and the Scottish captain Darren Fletcher.'

His United hero is Sir Alex Ferguson and he particularly loves it when United beat their fierce rivals Liverpool.

The Red Devils, however, must overcome another familiar foe this weekend as they prepare to face city rivals and Premier League pace-setters Manchester City at Old Trafford.

But not before they welcome CSKA Moscow in a Champions League tie on Tuesday night.
