- Olivier Giroud scored an 88th-minute equaliser for Arsenal at Southampton
- The goal was Giroud's 17th from the subs bench since joining Arsenal in 2012

- Jermain Defoe leads the overall tally with 23 subs goals for four top flight clubs
Olivier Giroud equalled Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's record for most substitute goals scored for one Premier League club during Arsenal's draw with Southampton on Sunday.
The French striker's 88th-minute header – his 17th league goal from the bench for the Gunners - drew him level with the Manchester United legend as he salvaged a point at St Mary's for Arsene Wenger's side.
His equaliser, in response to Charlie Austin's opener three minutes in, secured a valuable point which saw Arsenal overtake rivals Tottenham into fifth, while Giroud continued to live up to his ever-growing super-sub reputation.
Olivier Giroud came to Arsenal's rescue yet again on Sunday to snatch a point at Southampton
Giroud pulled clear of Javier Hernandez, who scored 14 goals from the bench at United, while Jermain Defoe and Edin Dzeko managed 13 goals whilst at Spurs and Manchester City respectively.
Chelsea dominate the list, with Tore Andre Flo scoring 12 goals, narrowly ahead of Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou with 11.
However, while Giroud now shares one of the more unwanted Premier League records with Solskjaer, Defoe has established a comfortable lead for the most top flight substitute goals - with 23 for four different clubs.

It's a list that also includes former Arsenal and Portsmouth striker Kanu (17), as well as Peter Crouch and Daniel Sturridge (15).
Giroud has become much more accustomed with the Emirates dugout than maybe he would have liked to since joining the Gunners from Montpellier in 2012.
Wenger is yet to hand the 31-year-old a Premier League start so far this season, with Giroud scoring four goals from the bench and being restricted to Europa League appearances - where he scored three goals in the group stages.
The arrival of French compatriot Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon last summer has not only seen Giroud forced out of contention for Gunners selection, but has also put his hopes of a World Cup place at risk, with Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann making up the remainder of his competition.
And with the striker reportedly surplus to requirements at the Emirates, Arsenal are ready to offload the striker as soon as the upcoming January transfer window.
Reports suggest that the frontman is eyeing a move to a London rival in order to avoid relocating, with West Ham and Crystal Palace both set to offer a loan deal for the striker.
