Jurgen Klopp has seemingly not got over Liverpool's derby day woes after Wayne Rooney's penalty snatched a point for arch-rivals Everton at Anfield on the weekend.

The German boss took charge of training on Monday and cut a miserable figure as he watched over the session from the wings as his players trained - most of them wearing hats and snoods to counteract the freezing temperatures.

The Liverpool players reported for training at their Melwood training base on Monday afternoon and unlike their manager, the spirits in the camp seemed to be high as they laughed and joked around during the session.

Earlier in the day, Klopp and his team paid a visit to Alder Hey Childrens Hospital to spread some festive cheer to some young supporters who will be spending the Christmas period on the road to recovery.

After making their annual visit and handing out Christmas presents, they made the short trip back to Melwood for a light-hearted training session.

But Klopp, who was visibly furious at the final whistle after drawing with Everton, did not seem on the same page as his players and looked despondent as he watched on.

A group of Liverpool players however were all snapped joking around as they tried to force Georginio Wijnaldum to the floor during an interval in the session.

Brazilian duo Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho, who were surprisingly omitted from Liverpool's starting XI on Sunday, were obviously still cold despite wrapping up warm as they got snuggly with Jon Flanagan, who maybe is more accustomed to the British winter.

A couple of the lesser senior players in Dominic Solanke, Ben Woodburn and Kamil Grabara were also on show as they took part in some stretching exercises.

The training session didn't seem to be too intense or vigorous, and despite Klopp rotating his side for the derby, he will be keen to make sure his players stay fresh.

Liverpool face a hectic and challenging festive schedule, with five games to play in the space of three weeks before heading into the new year.

It's a good thing Klopp's men have brushed the derby day disappointment under the carpet as it's a quick turnaround for them.

They take on West Brom in just two days' time and Klopp will be eager to take advantage of their poor form - they haven't won in the league since August - to get back to winning ways.
