Manchester United could make January signings, says manager Jose Mourinho amid interest in Arsenal's Mesut Ozil and Antoine Griezmann
- Jose Mourinho is generally not considered to be a fan of the January window
- But - with interest in Mesut Ozil and Antoine Griezmann - he could make a move
- He said on Friday it is worth signing a player a team might sign in June early
- Arsene Wenger made it clear he did not want the club to sell Ozil in January
Jose Mourinho is open to making signings next month despite not being a fan of the January window.
The Manchester United manager is aware he needs to continue reshaping his squad in a quest for trophies.
And Mourinho - who holds an interest in Arsenal's Mesut Ozil and Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann - revealed he will do business if the right deal becomes available.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has refused to rule out January transfer moves
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is one player Mourinho is understood to be interested in
'I'm not a big defender of the January market but there are players and situations that sometimes you have the chance to do and you shouldn't lose that chance,' Mourinho said.
'I don't like the January market just to buy (for the sake of buying). But if you can buy one you would buy in June, with the chance a few months before, then great.'
Asked about Griezmann, who Diego Simeone claimed could soon leave Atletico, Mourinho added: 'I don't speak about players - especially players who belong to other clubs.'
Ozil is favouring a switch to Old Trafford over anywhere in Spain, although Arsene Wenger insists neither he nor Alexis Sanchez will leave before the end of the season.
Mourinho worked with playmaker Ozil during his time in Spain as Real Madrid manager
Antoine Griezmann is also a player that United are interested in signing in the future
Wenger said on Friday: 'I will analyse every case individually and separately, overall I would say my wish and my desire is that everybody stays.'
United travel to West Brom on Sunday and Mourinho believes Tony Pulis was on the cusp of an upturn in form before being sacked.
Alan Pardew has won more Premier League games against Mourinho than anyone (three) as he looks to drag West Brom clear of danger.
'They got so many points with Tony in the big matches,' Mourinho said. 'Tony assembled a very good squad with lots of experienced players, physical players with know how.
'The squad is good, the players are good and the stadium is enthusiastic. You'll have to ask the owners (if Pulis should still be in charge). They decide.'
Ozil posted a photograph of himself leaving Arsenal's training session on Friday afternoon
Mourinho also suggested Tony Pulis was on the cusp of an upturn in form before being sacked
