Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain gave children at a local school an early Christmas present as the Liverpool trio went to visit the pupils without them knowing.

The Premier League stars headed to St Paul's Catholic Junior School, based very close to Melwood training ground, to surprise the unsuspecting children who thought they were being interviewed about Liverpool.

The young pupils, aged between 7-11, thought they were being solely interviewed on their favourite Liverpool players but were interrupted during the filming by the trio, and one child had an important message for Oxlade-Chamberlain in particular.

When one pupil listed his favourite players as being Coutinho, Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, the former Arsenal star asks why his name wasn't called out.

And the pupil replied to the England international by saying: 'You need to get in the first team more.'

After the awkward encounter, the midfielder told his team-mates: 'I used to do this with Arsenal, they used to love me, the kids they used to love me in London.'

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is still settling into life on Merseyside, didn't appear to be the most popular at the school in Liverpool, with one young girl having no idea who he was.

Amusingly, another child was asked whether he thinks Oxlade-Chamberlain is good but the pupil instantly shook his head with the 24-year-old standing just behind him waiting to surprise him, to which the Liverpool man laughed before replying: 'Why don't you like me?'

At least Coutinho and Firmino were well liked at the school, with the latter using his popularity to show off some of his Brazilian dance moves.

The 26-year-old, who celebrates scoring with some unusual dances, taught the pupils some of his special moves.
